Sharon Townsend

Sharon Ann (Briery) Townsend of Frisco, Texas, passed away on October 9, 2020, at the age of 72.

She was born in Seminole, Oklahoma, on August 27, 1948, to Genevieve (Cook) and Clifford Edward Briery.

Sharon’s beautiful complexion is attributed to her Cherokee ancestry.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!). Sharon was a teacher for many years, teaching at Clark, Plano Senior High and Plano West. Debate, Speech and English were a true passion for Sharon, and she passed that passion on to many of her students. She was well respected and admired by all of her students and colleagues.

Sharon married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Michael Wade Townsend, in Maui, Hawaii, on July 13, 1970.

They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Ashley and Alisha.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Mike Townsend of Frisco, Texas; her daughters, Dr. Ashley Slaughter and her husband, Frank, of Prosper, Texas, and Alisha Rand and her husband, Bryan, of Frisco, Texas; her grandchildren, Jurnee Hill, Dalton Hill, Cade Hill, Ella Slaughter, Rhea Slaughter, Sarah Slaughter, Andrew Slaughter, Haylee Rand and Grace Rand.

She was preceded in death by her parents, C.E. and Genny, and her brother, Clifford Edward Briery II.

A Remembrance Gathering will be held at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas, on Friday, October 16th, 2020, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, come and go.

The service will be held at the Berkshire Chapel on Saturday, October 17th, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Andy Lewis officiating.
