Seminole resident Sam Houston Simpkins passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 in Midwest City.

Sam, the son of L.C. Simpkins and Bessie Mae (Phillips) Simpkins, was born July 8, 1953, in Seminole. After graduating from high school Sam joined the US Army. On May 19, 1980, he married Cindy Winter in Seminole. On May 19, 2007, he and Cindy renewed their vows, again in Seminole. Sam was a licensed meat cutter. He also drove an ambulance and was a CPR instructor. In his spare time Sam operated a lawn mowing service, he really loved to help people. Sam was fascinated by doing family history work; over the years he identified family members all the way back to the 1700s.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James Simpkins, Robert Simpkins, Millard Simpkins, Nathaniel Simpkins, and Henry Simpkins; and a sister, Sylvia Jones.

Sam is survived by his wife Cindy, of the home; sons, Jonathan Simpkins of Oklahoma City, Sammy Simpkins II of Seminole, and Gabriel Simpkins of Wewoka; a daughter, Gracie Simpkins of Wewoka; two grandchil dren, Octavia and Sammy III; brothers, Donald Simpkins of Seminole, L.C. Simpkins Jr., of Oklahoma City, and Terry Simpkins of Oklahoma City; sisters, Shirley Simpkins of Missouri, and Sherry Carroll of Washington State; and many other nieces and nephews and family and friends.

The family will be available at the funeral home for visitation, on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home.

Services will be Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel, in Seminole with Michael Brooks and Kevin Burdine officiating. Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
