Rita Brown

Rita Michal “Shelly” Brown, age 63 of Wewoka, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 .

She was born February 6, 1957 in Oklahoma City, OK to the James Carey and Beatrice Williams Carey.

She married Roy “Marty” M. Brown Jr., April 29, 1977 in Atoka, OK. She worked for Wewoka Public School in the cafeteria for many years.

Mrs. Brown was a member of The General Assembly and Church of The First Born. She was baptized in Colorado, July 4th 1974.

Preceding Shelly in death is mother Beatrice Carey, brother Don Carey, Special aunt Cookie Williams, father-in-law Roy M. Brown Sr., brothers-in-laws Estel Fisher and Calvin Bagley.

Survivors include father James Carey, of Atoka, OK, husband Marty Brown, Wewoka, OK, son Wesley J. Brown Sr. and wife Leah N. Brown of Wewoka; grandchildren Kelsie Brown, Lindsey Brown, Craven Brown and Wesley Brown Jr.; six sisters Linda Fisher, Leda (Allen) Walters, Jean Bagley, Necie (Stan) Albertson, Shirlene (Ronnie) Howard and Vanessa (Tom) Ashby; one brother Brad (Rebecca)

Carey; four sister-in-laws Carlotta Carey, Debbie (Randy) Epperley, Gaylene Thompson, Karen (Mark) McFarren : mother-in-law Artie Nogle and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pall bearers will be Derek Howard, Chad Walters, Eric Carey, Keith McFerran, Rodney Fisher and Ronnie Fisher.

Honorary pall bearers will be Kelsie Brown, Lindsey Brown, Craven Brown and Wesley Brown Jr.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday August 26, 2020 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dennis Powell officiating and burial at Oakwood Cemetery Wewoka.
