On 6-25-2021, Riley Byrd, Jr. of Wewoka died in Claremore Ok. at the age of 69.

Riley is survived by his Wife Susan of Claremore. Sons: Terry (Timothy) Esquer of Bakersfield Ca., Bryan Dilldine of Tulsa Ok., Steven Byrd & Bradley (Christa) Byrd of Wewoka. Daughter Amy Byrd of Wewoka. Grandchildren: Marissa, Brayden and Blake Byrd of Seminole, Ragen Little of Moore OK, Kassidy Dilldine of Tulsa Ok, Alennah and Trey Thomas of Wewoka Ok. Siblings: Mickey Wilson of Chelsea Ok, Gidget (Richard) Bean of Claremore Ok. Raymond Byrd, Gail Janzen and Sid Byrd of Tulsa Ok.

A host of other nieces, nephews and cousins. Proceeded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Byrd.

Riley Byrd, Jr. was born 11/17/1951 in Proctor Arkansas to Riley Byrd Sr and Billie Odessa Byrd. Known to his family as Buster.

After high school he joined the Army and served in the Vietnam war. He became very active in the VFW after his time in the Army.

He made his home in Wasco Ca. Where he had become the commander of the VFW post 6742 then joining the Wewoka OK post when he moved to Wewoka in 1993, Riley held a lifetime membership to the VFW. During his years in Wasco he worked as a police officer, in the oilfields and was a business owner of Pentran Company. He sold his part in the company and moved his family to Wewoka Oklahoma where he then became a truck driver for commercial brick for 14 yrs before opening up a tire shop in Wewoka, running his own business again until he decided to sell it and retire. Riley was a published Author. He was a very intelligent man who held many honorable discharges and degrees throughout his lifetime. He was a man who loved to talk to anyone and there was nothing he couldn’t do.
