Richard Gosey

Richard Carl Gosey was born October 18, 1940, in Wewoka, OK and passed away August 15, 2021, in Oklahoma City, OK.

He owned a snow cone stand, worked for the USPS, including working in the mail car for four years, was a math teacher and football coach, was a referee/umpire for high school baseball, football, and basketball, was a computer programmer, a sprint car driver/builder, and a school bus driver.

He was preceded in death by parents, Carl Marvin Gosey and Hazel Lorita Gosey; son, Richard Gosey, Jr., Tammy Gosey (daughter-in-law), Jonnie Barrowman (first wife), Damien Wilkerson (grandson-in-law). He is survived by Jonnie Mae’s daughter, Carla Jean Grissom (Gary), their daughter, Amy Sipes (Ronnie) with children Alexis, Camdyn and Lillian; and daughter, Ashlee Johnson (Blake) with children Madisyn Wilkerson and Bristol Johnson; Jonnie’s son, John Tom Gosey (Sherry) with their children Stephen Joseph (Haleigh) with Natalie, James Joseph (Tiffany) with Preston and Nora, J.T. Gosey (Casey) with Gracie and Jordyn, Ryan Gosey, Dylan Gosey and Alysha Gosey; Jonnie’s son, David (Jeanie) and their children Tevis Gosey (Emmalie) with Emma Rose, Christian with Maverick, and Gabi, RJ, Lalo, Nikki, Cruz, Matt, Athena and Cade. Carla Mae’s (second wife) sons, Mitchell Scott Gosey (Alicia) with Michelle, and Morgan Keith Gosey (Jewels Diane); and by his third wife, Diane Rae Kingdon Gosey.

He enjoyed OU football and girls’ softball, building his HO scale train layout, watching little kids, and drawing up football plays. He had a funny sense of humor and enjoyed life.

His memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 10100 Ridgeview Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73120 on 9/11/2021 at 10:30 a.m.
