Rachel Rene’ (Harper) Bunnell, 50, Maud, Oklahoma resident, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021 at her home in Maud, Oklahoma.

Rachel was born on May 6, 1971 in Louisville, Kentucky to Lula Mae (Riggs) Harper and Melvin Merral Harper.

Rachel was a homemaker and a long time Maud resident. Rachel started life in Brooks Hill, Kentucky, she was # 8 of 10 kids and loved and cherished her family. She was 8 years old when her and her family moved to Little, Oklahoma, where she made great lifelong friends. Rachel moved to Maud at the age of 13 with her family.

Rachel graduated from Maud High School in 1989. She and her husband stayed in Maud and raised their children. She enjoyed fishing, mowing, water skiing, tubing, and floating the river. Recently she stayed out at the farm in Wolf, Oklahoma, taking care of the animals and feeding her cows.

Rachel married James LeRoy Bunnell on May 22, 1998 at Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Rachel is survived by her husband James LeRoy Bunnell of the home in Maud; daughter, Haley Smith of Maud, Oklahoma; three sons, Ethan Bunnell, Jacob Bunnell and Eli Bunnell all of Maud, Oklahoma; five brothers, Chris and Darla Harper of Shephardsville, Kentucky, Merral and Kandi Harper of Maud, Oklahoma, Jeff and Lisa Harper of Little, Oklahoma, Timmy and Michelle Harper of Maud, Oklahoma and Steven Harper of Seminole, Oklahoma and; four sisters, Donna and Terry Kirby of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Melissa and Steve O’Daniel of Maud, Oklahoma, Tammy and Marc Evans of Jupiter, Florida and Sarah and Carey Barron of Shawnee, Oklahoma and three grandchildren Lexi, Roz and Miss B. Aunt Rachel was also very loved by many nieces and nephews.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents Lula and Melvin Harper; her nephew, Bobby Jo Harper and her sister-in-law Tanya Harper.

Viewing will begin on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 12:00 Noon till 7:00 P.M. and Thursday July 29, 2021, from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 30, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma, with Christopher Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery at Maud.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
