Monroe June Harjo, 72, of Shawnee, died Wednesday, November 4 in Norman.

Monroe, the son of Edmond and Lillie (Fixico) Harjo, was born November 2, 1948, in Ada.

He graduated high school at Sasakwa High School, with the class of 1967.

Monroe proudly served in the US Army in Vietnam.

Monroe then attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence Kansas. On July 16, 1980, he married Jeanette Scott.

\Monroe was a computer specialist.

He enjoyed doing leather work, working on cars and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joanna Harjo; and a brother, Edmond Harjo Jr.

Monroe is survived by his wife, Jeanette; sisters, Amy Harper and Louella Parker; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Services will be Tuesday, November 10, at 1:00 PM at Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa, with Kellos Walker officiating.

Burial will follow at Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee.

The family requests all guests to wear face masks and use social distancing at the funeral service.
