Minnie Louise Hardin Nokes

Minnie Louise Hardin Nokes, longtime Ada resident, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at her home, with her family by her side. Minnie was born on October 28, 1938, in Wanette, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Leslie and Ruby (Briggs) Hardin. In 1945 she moved with her family to the family farm south of Ada. She attended Ahloso school and in 1956 she graduated from Stonewall High School where she was a “hot shot” basketball player.

After high school she relocated to Colorado for many years. She later transferred to New Mexico where she retired from the Bureau of Land Management as an Executive Assistant.

Minnie is survived by her son, William “Wid” Cope, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Sheri Haney, Ada and Karen Lefler; and a brother, Jim Hardin, Seminole.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Nokes, her parents, her two sisters, and her first husband, Wayne Cope.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Little Cemetery in Little, Oklahoma, with Pastor Carl Whitfield officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
