Cummings Michael “Mike” Keith Cummings was born January 6th, 1947, in Vallejo, California to Buiel and Alice Cummings. He attended Benecia High School and belonged to the graduate class of 1964. After High School, he joined the U.S. Navy and spent many years touring places such as Vietnam, the Philippines, Guam, Tahiti, and more on the USS Turner Joy. Upon returning, he attended a baseball game where he met Joan Ellen Thurlo. A few short years later, the pair snuck away to Reno, Nevada, where they were married alongside Mike’s brother. They went on to have two daughters, who they raised in Seminole, Oklahoma and spend 44 years of marriage together. Mike worked for ODOT for 20 years, for the Cities of Seminole and Wewoka, and renovating properties.

In his down time, he enjoyed fishing on Sportsman’s Lake, going to breakfast with friends, crafting beautiful artwork, playing with great-grandchildren, or tinkering on some motor or gadget he found for an amazing deal.

Mike was proceeded in death by his parents Buiel and Alice, his stepmother Josephine, his sister Charlotte Ann, and many other beloved friends, brothers in the Naval Forces, and relatives.

He leaves behind to mourn him his brother Lawrence Cummings, his daughter Danielle Pendleton, daughter Michelle Cummings, former wife Joan Cummings, grand-daughters Abigail Lucas and Donna Smith, grand-sonsShadandBlake York, and Amos Smith, grand-daughter Amber McClenny, grand-daughter Ashley Ventris, and many great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
