Seminole resident, Lorene Monday passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at her home.

Lorene, the daughter of John and Nora Alice (Treat) Griffin, was born May 18, 1931, in Watts, AR. On January 20, 1951, she married Aubrey Lee Monday, in Holdenville, OK, Aubrey preceded Lorene in death on February 7, 2011, having just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Lorene was a secretary and bookkeeper, for many years in the legal field and at Tinker Air Force Base, then, for their auto repair business. She loved gardening, golf, and was an avid reader. Lorene was active at St. John Lutheran Church, then Redeemer Lutheran Church, both of Shawnee. She had great memories of her younger childhood in Arkansas, before moving to Oklahoma, where she graduated from Atwood High School. She and Aubrey started their married life in Oklahoma City, before moving to Tecumseh and ultimately settling in Seminole in 1979.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Barbara Lee Brown; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Lorene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Bruce Strand of Seminole; two grandchildren, Lisa Hopson and her husband Steven, and Ethan Edwards and his wife, Marissa; great grandchildren, Michael Whitlock, Preston Hopson, Lexy Alderson and her husband Jeff, Gabby Davis and her husband Isaiah; great great grandchildren, Khloe Whitlock, Lilly Whitlock, Elijah Whitlock, Josie Alderson, Ezra Davis, Nokose Davis, Sully Smith-Whitlock; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Bill Taylor of Moncks Corner South Carolina; and a multitude of nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

The family would like to thank Centric Hospice, especially, Kolisha, Londa, Misty, Heather, and Mindy, who tended to Lorene with such love and care. The family is forever grateful.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, with Carl Whitfield officiating. Lorene will be Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
