Larry Gene Marker was born on September 11, 1939 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Perry Marker & Madge (Morefield) Marker Hallman. He passed from this life on March 17, 2021 at his home in Wewoka, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 6 days.

Larry grew up in Cushing, Oklahoma, was a graduate of Cushing High School and attended Central State University in Edmond. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the United Stated Air Force. He worked many years as an oilfield mechanic for Sun Oil Co. in Seminole before his retirement. He was a man of many interests but none more important to him than his love of street rods. He built, bought and sold countless cars and trucks over the years and was a regular entry in the Darryl Starbird car shows for many years. He also loved making turquoise and silver jewelry as well as horseshoe and western art pieces from horse tack pieces. He loved operating his dozer and had never met a tree that he didn’t want to push down and dig out. He was also very happy on his tractor mowing the pasture. Another constant in his life was his affection of dogs and their commitment to him was always uncanny. He could simultaneously be hard to get along with while also being a very generous and caring man. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry & Madge Marker, his step-father, Bob Hallman, his brother, Dan Marker and a nephew; Larry David Marker.

Larry is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Ann (Sam) Marker, whom he married on September 15, 1961 in Cushing, Oklahoma as well as one son; Mike Marker and wife Pam, of Bixby, two grandsons; Shane Marker of San Francisco, CA and Trey Marker of Bixby, one niece; Chele Marker Cash of Chattanooga, Tennessee along with several great-nieces & nephews, other family members, car buddies and longtime friends. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 22, in the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Celebrant Mark Powell officiated. Honorary casket bearers were Shane Marker, Trey Marker, Jim Morrison and Ken Sumwal.
