John Wesley Porter, 51, was born on May 13, 1970, in Wewoka, Oklahoma to John Porter and Janie Harjo Newby.

He was a member of the Spring Baptist Church.

He attended Sasakwa Elementary until he graduated 8th grade in 1984. He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1988. He also attended Bacone College.

John Wesley aka JW worked at the Chickasaw Nation as a dietary aide. Then he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Advanced Masonry.

His hobbies included fishing, spending time with his family, and watching OU sports. He was most proud of his children and granddaughters.

He is survived by his five children, Teresa Mortensen and her husband Jamon of Eufaula, Cassidy Porter of Ada, Enoch Porter of Ada, Jozie and William Porter of the home, his mother Janie Newby of the home, his father and step-mother John and Kathy Porter of Ada, his brother, Mick Porter and his wife, Christina of Ada and step-brother Brian Cannon and his wife Debrenna of Ada, his three nieces Michaela Cozad and husband Samuel of Ada, Mariah Porter of Ada, Mallory Porter of Anadarko, his three nephews Cody Cannon and his wife Paige of Ada, Hunter Conklin of Ada, Connor Conklin of Ada, and his special friend Kim Kirby White of Edmond along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Babe and Josie Stout Harjo and his paternal grandparents John and Ruth Harris Porter.

A wake service will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Criswell Funeral Home.

Funeral services for John Wesley Porter will be on Wednesday November 10, 2021, at 2 pm at the Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa with the burial to follow in the Porter family cemetery.
