John Jerome Jackson, age 78 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021 at his home.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Konawa. Rev. Bruce Sanders will officiate, and honorary casket bearers are Tyler Jackson, Charlie Jackson, Donny Longest, Gary Stidham, Wayne Smith, Mike Savage, Tommy Sexton, and Rob Chew.

The family will greet guests at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 5th. John was born May 20, 1943 in Konawa to Richard P. Jackson and Hortense (Rounsaville) Jackson.

He graduated Salutatorian of Vamoosa High School and attended college at East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma and the Oklahoma School of Banking.

He was the Maintenance Manager for the Konawa school system for many years.

John married Billie Charlene Johnson on August 8, 1964 at the First Baptist Church of Konawa. John was a member of the Vamoosa Baptist Church, and he loved sports, and being a “Pop”. He was a referee and an umpire for over forty years.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Jackson of the home; one son, Mike Jackson and wife, Sheliah of Konawa; one daughter, Christi Jackson of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; one brother, Bobby Jackson and wife, Betty of Bethany, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Yvonne Robertson and husband Keith of Okemah, Oklahoma, and Joann Sanders and husband, David of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Tyler Jackson and wife, Holly, and Taylor Jackson; two great grandchildren, Charlie and Harper Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
