John King Burton, 8 0 , passed away May 18, 2019 in Seminole, Oklahoma.  John was born June 2, 1938 in Seminole to parents John Morris Burton and Faye (Smith) Burton.

John graduated high school in 1956. There he lettered in baseball, basketball and football. He was Football Co-Captain in 1955 with All Conference and All State honors.

Following a stint in the Air Force, he married, had two children, and moved to San Diego, CA where he was in sales. Twenty-seven years ago, he returned to Seminole to take care of his aging parents.  He became a regular at the Bus Station Cafe and served on the Hall of Fame board of his beloved Seminole Chieftains.

“PaPa” will always be remembered by his grandchildren for his corny jokes, love of golf, and endless games of poker.

He is survived by his daughter Carrie Ellen (Burton) Murrin and husband James (Park City, UT); son John David Burton and wife Amy (Morro Bay, CA); two sisters Jane (Burton) Mears (Friendswood, TX), sons Pat, Jay and Johnny and Nancy (Burton) Hancock (Okmulgee, OK), daughter Beth; and six grandchildren Kylie, Breanna, Bryce, Maia, Ava and Liam.

No services will be held.
