Joe Burt Pettis, of Cromwell, OK departed this life on Monday, June 17, 2019 in Shawnee, OK at the age of 77 years. He was born in Wewoka, OK July 28, 1941 to the late James Dowe Pettis and Loris Avondale Burt Pettis.

Joe was a graduate of Wewoka High School and attended Oklahoma State University and Conner State College.

He married Kay Lynn Kimrey, February 22, 1964 in Okemah, OK and to this union two children were born.

Joe was branch manager for the Department of Transportation until retirement. He enjoyed competing in Archery competitions. He started the Black Arrow Archery Club in Wewoka.

He also loved fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family.

Preceding Joe in death are his parents, brother Bob Pettis and sister-in-law Barbara.

Those left to cherish his memories are wife Kay Lynn of 55 years; daughter, Jo Lynn Pettis of Seminole, OK; son, Tony Brian Pettis of Cromwell, OK; grandchildren Kaleb Pettis and Abi Jo Pettis of Cromwell, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.,

Honorary Pall bearers will be Ben Harjo, Kent Stricker, Don Kimrey, Mark Howell, Wayne Willis, and Steve Chambers.

Graveside will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 21, 2019 at Little Cemetery.
