Joe Hopper, Seminole resident, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024 in Oklahoma City at the age of 82. Joe was born on February 3, 1942 in Maud, OK to Farris Derward Hopper and Juanita Catherine (Slaybaugh) Hopper. He was a 1960 graduate of Maud High School. Joe proudly served in the United States Army. He married Juliet Coker on April 28, 1966 in Seminole at the Bus Station by the Justice of the Peace.

Joe enjoyed gardening, fishing, backyard golf, hunting, and watching OU football. He found great joy in teasing and terrorizing the grandkids. He and his bride, Juliet shot 415 squirrels one summer. He could roller skate like no other and would skate circles around his family and friends. Joe loved getting outside and playing basketball and golf with the grandkids. He would also join the kickball games at Grandpa Coker’s holidays.

Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Juliet Hopper; sons, Brent Hopper and Casey Wildcat Jr.; daughters, Brandi Bevan and husband, John and Minnie Hopper and Lorenzo Perez; brothers, Charles Hopper and John Hopper; sister, Juanita Phillips and husband, Ted; grandchildren, Samantha Hopper, Christopher and Jase Brittingham, Levi Hopper, Mikayla Wildcat, Duane Wildcat, Mindy Wildcat, Maegan Wildcat, Miley Wildcat, Darion Wildcat, Dustin Wildcat, Macie Wildcat, Daemon Wildcat, DeMarcus Wildcat and Gaige Joe Perez (due in June); great grandchildren, Zane Wildcat, Kaiden Wildcat, Atticus Wildcat -Lena, Calian Harjo, Ares Wildcat and Summer Wildcat and many other family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita and Farris Hopper; sister, Ora Alice Glover; brothers, Raymond Hopper, Wilford Hopper and Clarence Hopper; grandson, Mox Brittingham and son, Dion Wildcat.

Those serving as casket bearers will be, Jesse Marshall, Toby Renfro, Eric Coley, Duane Wildcat, Casey Wildcat Jr., Drew Ahhaitty and Randy Ahhaitty. Honorary casket bearers will be Randy Northcott, Tony Northcott, Manuel Lena, James Hopper, Edwin Hopper, Charlie Henneha, Randy Ahhaitty Sr., Bruce Cully, Dominic Coker, John Bevan, Kendric Deere, Malachi Lena and Cedric Scott.

Viewing will be Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK with Rev. Ed Hailey officiating. Interment will follow at the family home at Hopper Family Cemetery in Seminole, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
