Jerry Madison Surber, age 85 and a life-long resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away from this life Saturday, October 3, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Sadly because of Covid precautions, his memorial service had to be postponed at that time.

A memorial service is now scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2021at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Konawa with military honors. Rev. Mike Cox will officiate.

Jerry will be escorted by the Konawa Fire Department to Konawa Cemetery.

Jerry was born October 22, 1934 in Konawa to Roy Surber and Willa (Abbott) Surber.

He graduated from Konawa High School, and he received a Bachelor’s Degree from East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma.

He married Monte Elaine Fry June 20, 1958. Jerry was also a Konawa BancFirst Board Member.

Jerry proudly served in the Army Reserves from 1957 until 1963 and became a Staff Sergeant.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of sixty-two years, Monte Surber of the home; one son, Michael Surber of Santa Fe, Texas; one daughter, Sandra Bowers of Ada, Oklahoma; one sister, Pat Neff of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Willa Surber; one sister, Billie Wilson; and one niece.
