Smith Seminole resident Jennifer “Sharon” Smith passed away, Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in Oklahoma City at the age of 76.

Sharon, the daughter of Bernard and Viola (Kenick) Eskue, was born June 1, 1946 in Artesia, New Mexico. On August 11, 1962, she married Ellis “Eugene” Smith in Dexter, New Mexico. Sharon and Eugene moved to Seminole in the late 1960’s and made their forever home here. Sharon was a homemaker in the early years of their marriage and later worked alongside Eugene at their family-owned plumbing business, S & S Plumbing. After Eugene’s passing, she so enjoyed helping her son, Carl, as a receptionist at his family- owned company, Carl’s Sanitation. She was a faithful member of the Seminole Church of Christ. Sharon was an active member of the Konawa and Wewoka Round-Up Clubs in the 1990’s and early 2000’s as she loved her horses. She was a lover of watching sports, especially those sports that her grandkids and great-grandkids were participating in while attending New Lima and Maud Public Schools. Sharon also loved to travel in her later years with Neuman and Opal. Being able to visit Hawaii and see the beautiful beach was one of the most memorable moments in her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, and her parents.

Sharon is survived by her brother, Neuman and “sister,” Opal Eskue of Georgia. Her children Melinda Spears of Seminole, Carl and his wife Becky of Maud, Tina Johnson of Seminole and Shawn Smith of Seminole. Her grandchildren are Brandy Burkhardt and her husband Branden of Claremore, Monica Fletcher and her husband Shay of Maud, Aaron Smith and his wife Jessika of Seminole, Desiree, Adam and Colin Deatherage and Karli and Peyton Johnson. She also had five great-grandchildren: Shaylynn and Christian Fletcher, Karder Ross, Ryder and Bella Smith. Sharon was loved and will be missed by many family members and friends.

A graveside service will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Little Cemetery in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
