Herlinda (Vela) Luna, age 90 and a long-time resident of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, passed from this life to her eternal home on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Fr. Joseph Duggempudi will officiate, and burial will follow at Thrace Cemetery near Bowlegs.

Casket bearers are Rueben Rangel, Anthony Amaya, Joel Luna, Vincent Cotten, Michael Cotten, and Ricky Gutierrez. A musical special will

A musical special will be provided by Garland and Ajay Blocker. Viewing will be at the funeral home Sunday, July 5 th from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Herlinda was born January 22, 1930 in Rio Grande City, Texas, to Festino and Sofia (Saenz) Vela. She married Thomas G. Luna on November 29, 1949 in Lubbock, Texas.

Herlinda loved gardening, sewing, and listening to music. Most of all, she loved to pray.

She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Thomas G. Luna of the home; one son, Joel Luna and wife, Nancy of Bowlegs; two daughters, Mary Lou Campoz and husband, Gary of Corsicana, Texas, and Patricia Wilhite and husband, B.J. of Waxahachie, Texas; two sisters, Rosa Franco of Mesa Arizona, and Lina Sifuentes of Lubbock, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Festino and Sofia Vela; one daughter, Vicki Belrose; one grandson, Jose Rangel; three brothers; and two sisters.
