Goldie Carpenter

Goldie Kathleen Carpenter passed away on November 23, 2020 at the age of 98.

She was born June 13, 1922 to Tom and Emma (Smith) Eslinger in Teresita, Oklahoma. Goldie married Eugene O. “Gene” Carpenter on June 18, 1940. They were married 61 years until his death on September 7, 2001.

Goldie was preceded in death by her husband Gene Carpenter, her parents Tom and Emma Eslinger, sisters Anna Thompson, Ahnawake Eslinger, Edith Million, Macie Osborn, Geneva Risenhoover, Jacklyn Collier, Vivian Forest and Billie Hutchins, and her brother Raymond “Bud” Eslinger.

As a girl, Goldie attended Chillocco Boarding School. She retired from SEE, Inc.

Goldie liked to quilt, garden, read and crochet. She liked to fish and was a crack shot with a 22. She also liked to play billiards and cards. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Goldie is survived by her sons Paul Carpenter of Wewoka and Dennis Carpenter of Oklahoma City, her daughter Carolyn Thomas of Wewoka. Also surviving her are grandchildren: Chris Akkola and husband Erik of Oklahoma City; Jill Blocker and husband Jared of San Antonio, TX; Andrea Dean of Anchorage, Alaska; Tyler Ross Thomas of Wewoka; Jeremy Epperly, Clint Carpenter and wife Cristi of Wewoka. Great grandchildren are Courtney Akkola, Cody Akkola, Laike Blocker, Kylie Dean, Russell Ian Dean, Jade Thomas, Janessa Thomas and Aimsley Carpenter and one on the way. Greatgreat grandchildren are Jaxon and Jett Behrens, Aiden Akkola and Avaya Harris.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law Neva Weedman of Peoria, Arizona and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pall bearers are Clint Carpenter, Ross Thomas, Erik Akkola, Cody Akkola, Keith Russell and Todd Schenk.

Graveside services are 10:30 AM Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Butner Cemetery.
