Glenn Dale Blanton has completed his work here on earth, passing from this life at his home in rural Wewoka, Ok on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the age of 86 years.

Glenn was the son of Nathan Sr & Ethel (Davis) Blanton; the third of their eleven children, born on August 11, 1935, at their home in rural Wewoka, Ok. He attended school at Old Butner until the age of 17 when he joined the U.S. Army where he earned the Purple Heart while serving in Korea. He married LaVina Williams on March 2, 1957, in Okemah and they settled on the homeplace he had purchased while serving in the military.

Glenn worked as a heavy equipment operator for Seminole County District #3, and at the end of each day he worked as an oil field pumper for a second job.

Glenn loved life by taking care of the homeplace consisting of mowing, gardening, maintaining fruit trees, pecan trees, raising hogs, goats, and sheep through the years. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren were his center of attention, taking them fishing, site seeing, where he would stop along the way many times to enjoy God’s creation or even just eating their favorite junk foods. He attended their sports events and all other school activities.

He was also a member of the VFW of Shawnee, Ok. Although not a traditional church member, Glenn was of the Baptist faith and was the spiritual leader of his family, teaching them by example with his love for God & honor of God’s Word, never missing an opportunity to point all things to Jesus Christ for recognition. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan & Ethel Blanton; son Glenn Randale Blanton, grandson Jason Dale Blanton, one son-in-law JD ‘Pete’ Poole Jr., one grand-son-in-law, three sisters, four brothers, and the mother of his children, LaVina Bell.

He is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law; Glenda & John Patton of Cromwell, Cindy & Johnny Murray of Wewoka, Tammy & Paul Broome of Wewoka, Rhonda Poole of Cromwell, and Nena & Bill Anderson of Wewoka; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, thirty great grandchildren, ten greatgreat grandchildren; one brother & three sisters with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends as well as his beloved dog Queenie.

Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Cromwell, 11:00a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, with Rev. Nathan Blanton Jr. officiating.
