George “Kent” Dawson, Seminole resident, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kent was born on September 21, 1947, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to George Winfrey and Rosemary (Hammond) Dawson.

Kent served in the Air Force from 1968 to 1971 as a Master Sergeant, Crew Chief on a C-130. He then returned to Seminole, working with his grandparents Rita and Guiles Dawson at Dawson Flowers and Pest Control until 2019. Kent was an active member of Northwood Church of the Nazarene until 2020 when the church closed.

Kent is survived by his brother, Guiles “Keith” Dawson and spouse, Angie of Guthrie, OK; half-sister, Dee Dee Breslin and spouse, Chip of Boise, Idaho; loyal and trusted companion of 21 years, Karla Evans; step-sister, Linda Woodham of Enterprise, AL; step-brother, Mike Lowman of Colorado; ex-wife, Kathryn Dawson of Seminole, OK; stepbrother, James D. Lowman of Colorado; daughters, Jamelyn Dingeldein and spouse, Mark, Megan Longest of Oklahoma City, OK and Jillian Meek and spouse, Eric of Seminole, OK; grandson, Blake Dawson of Enid, OK, Collin Longest of Oklahoma City, Rylan McGaha of Seminole, OK, Aiden McGaha of Prague, OK, Westyn Meek of Seminole, OK; granddaughters Kamdyn Meek and Keeli Aldridge of Seminole, OK; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Guiles and Rita Dawson; step-brother, Dan Lowman Jr.; step-dad, Dan Lowman and spouse Jill McKinley Dawson.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Blake Dawson, Collin Longest, Johnathan Dawson, Mark Dawson, Eric Meek and Aiden McGaha. Chris Holland, Rylan McGaha and Joe Morgan will serve as honorary casket bearers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Northwood Church of the Nazarene in Seminole with Pastor Charles Taylor officiating. Cremation will follow. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
