Garry Joseph Walker, 69 year old long time Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away March 26, 2020.

He was born October 6, 1950 to parents Terry Walker and Eliza (Bear) Walker.

He and his family lived in Calvin, Oklahoma until he was 7 years old before moving to Seminole.

He attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School in 1969.

He was a member of the Creek and Seminole Nations of Oklahoma.

Garry was in radio for 48 years. He was the announcer for the popular TRADIO program on KWSH and retired in 2018.

He was also the voice of Seminole Chieftain Football for 15 years.

Garry enjoyed working crossword puzzles, driving around listening to loud music and visiting with his grandchildren, brothers and sisters. He also enjoyed texting with his family.

Garry is survived by his son; Al Walker and Delany of Hillsboro, Oregon, his daughter; Rikki Walker Bergman and her husband Blake of Stillwater, Oklahoma, his brother; Harry Walker and Linda of Seminole, Oklahoma, his sisters; Beatrice Walker, Susie Harjo, Shirley Walker and Jo Walker, all of Seminole, Oklahoma, his sister-in-law; Ruth Walker of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren; Terry, Faith, Camden, Mia, Adyson, Dru, Tommy and Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Jerry Walker and Larry Walker and nephew Richard Scott.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma with Jimmy Anderson officiating.

Casket bearers were his son; Al Walker and nephews; Baylor Drew, Mike Walker, Brett Walker, Toby Walker, Joe Bear Walker and Zach Walker.

The family wishes to apologize to family and friends who may have wanted to attend Garry’s service, but due to the COVID situation, we needed to keep the service for immediate family.

Arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
