Erika Theresa Hartegen Brooks left this world to be with her beloved savior, Jesus Christ. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Erika was born in Hungary and moved to Germany as a child. Erika loved her country and grew up with many artistic talents. Her family had a musical background, her father playing the accordion and Erika singing and dancing in German Festivals as girl. She worked in photography and did beautiful studio modeling as well.

Erika met her loving husband, Donald Brooks, while he served in the Army in Germany. It was love at first sight and they soon married.

Erika and Don then began their wonderful journey in life in Seminole for the next 58 years, raising four children. Erika’s life was centered in her family and faith in God. She loved her Christian family at First Baptist Church and found belonging in loving friends that she kept for life. She loved her Bible.

Erika and Don always worked together, first electrical businesses and then a beautiful development at Lake Eufaula. Most of all, she loved life at her farm home of over 40 years with her husband. She loved the outdoors and all animals.

The most amazing thing about Erika was her love for her dear husband, Don. He met her as a young girl and took care of her to the very end. They had a precious love that blossomed with life’s experiences. They did it together.

Erika is survived by her loving husband, Don Brooks, four children, Ricky Brooks of Dallas, TX, Donna Brooks of Eufaula, OK, Vicky Brooks of Dallas TX, and Gary Brooks (wife, Kendra and daughter, Peyton) of Crested Butte CO, and Erika’s sister Maria Coons of Chesapeake Virginia.

Erika is preceded in death by her parents, George and Maria Hartegen, brother, Paul, and sister, Rosa.

Private graveside services were held for Erika under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
