Maria Elena (Medlock) Silas Redding, age 78, rural Seminole County resident, passed from this life, on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at her home in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Elena was born February 1, 1942 in McCurtain, Oklahoma to Woodrow Wilson Medlock and Dovie Dolly (Reece) Medlock. She spent most of her life in the Seminole and Wewoka communities and attended Bowlegs Public Schools.

Elena worked for Custom Size Clothing, a division of Lillian Russell Company in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She served many years as secretary to Mr. Paul Lyons, Seminole county School Superintendent until her retirement. She loved reading fishing, quilting, watching the Voice, the Bachelor, Judge Judy and western movies.

Elena married Paul D. Redding on September 25, 2014 in Sebastian County, Arkansas. She and Paul had been together for over 15 years.

Elena was survived by her husband Paul Redding of the home, one son Kurtis Silas of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and one daughter Ronda Carol Silas of Seminole, Oklahoma, step-daughter; Shelly Thompson and her husband Dave of Stigler, Oklahoma, two brothers; Dr. Jack Medlock and his wife Colleen of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Gary Dale Medlock and his wife Melissa of Seminole, two sisters Robin Hall and her husband Barry Marbit of Edmond, Oklahoma and Vonda K. Culbertson of Benton, Louisiana, four grandchildren Kalyn, Kody, Terry, Heather, six great grandchildren; Scout, Graham, Lane, Wyatt, Eli and Zoey, nine step-grandchildren and twenty-eight step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her brother Jerry Medlock.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Nick Mullins, Lane Cloud, Terry White, Terry Morrison, Chance Medlock and Gus Stevenson. Honorary bearer will be Doug Shipman.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
