Eleanor Marie Nicholson, Shawnee resident, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 78.

Eleanor was born on September 25, 1942, in Seminole, Oklahoma to Jimmy and Nellie (Yeager) Bell.

She enjoyed her career as a registered nurse for the State of Oklahoma.

Eleanor was a Seminole Nation tribal member. She was a member of Hitchitee United Methodist Church.

Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, bowling, working crosswords, listening to music, dancing and sewing. She liked to go to the casino and enjoyed her retirement.

Eleanor was known for her love of animals as well, whether it be dogs, turkeys, goats, rabbits or any animal that needed to be cared for. She had an ornery side her family loved. When she was younger she would play baseball with Nick and spend a lot of time with him.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Wanda Green of Shawnee, OK and Christina Waterman of Burbank, CA; son, James Nicholson of Shawnee; sister, Wanda Bounds; four grandchildren, Shellie Newby, Kari Campbell, Brandon Nicholson and Nicholas Green; five great grandchildren; her dear friend, Jimmy Loucks; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Granville Nicholson; second husband, Hobert Waterman; brothers, Raymond Bell and Charlie Bell; sisters, Molly Leader and Joann Lowe and nephew, James Leader.

Viewing will be Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Family visitation will be Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Due to COVID concerns a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
