Funeral services for Seminole, Oklahoma resident, Doris Cox, are scheduled for Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Jim and Nita Moreland will officiate the service and interment will follow at Maple Grove cemetery in Seminole.

Casket bearers will be Brian Babb, Floyd Dorsey, Sheldon Mills, Donnie Pack, Darrick Pack, Pat Lee and Aaron Redwine.

Doris, 87, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2020.

She was born in Wilsonville, Oklahoma to Roy and Maudi Elen Pitts.

Throughout her life, Doris worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Seminole Hospital and as a homemaker.

She took joy in baking and cooking for her family and her children’s friends.

Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing quilts, making candy, reading, studying her Bible and caring for families who had experienced loss by preparing meals for them.

She married Robert “Don” Cox on July 4, 1950. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Her generous heart and thoughtfulness toward others will long be remembered.

She was a member of the Lord’s Community Church in Seminole.

Her parents, Roy and Maudi Elen Pitts; husband, Robert Don Cox, son; Ronnie Cox; brothers, Harvey, Dewey, Raymond and Edgar Lee and sisters; Marvella and Gwendolyn preceded her in death.

Doris is survived by her daughter and son in law; Norma and Dale Babb of Ada, Oklahoma, daughter; Donna Cox of Seminole, Oklahoma, daughter in law; Leora Cox of Seminole, Oklahoma, sister; Carol Mills of Seminole, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Toni Pack, Brian Babb, Robert Babb, Valerie Dorsey, Rhawni Babb and Lyle Pitts, nine great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
