Kern Dickey Ray Kern, lovingly known as Dick, passed away on June 29, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on March 22, 1943, in McPherson Kansas, to Robert and Virginia Kern.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joyce Kay Sparks; and infant daughter, Terrie LeeAnne.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Judy; their three children, Tracey (Tim), Todd (Sarah), and Pattie; ten grandchildren- Ashley, Scott, Steven, Britnie, Amanda, Christopher, Shelby, Sofie, Caylee, and Austin; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Dick was a faithful and generous servant, wellknown for his time volunteering in the Metro Kitchen. He was famous for insisting everyone try the carrot souffle-especially proud when folks came back for seconds. His kind spirit and sense of humor brought joy to those around him.
An outdoorsman at heart, Dick had a deep love for nature and was especially fond of coon hunting. He also enjoyed raising chickens and has a passion for vehicles-spending countless hours working on, trading, selling, and collecting them.
Dick’s life was one marked by devotion-to his family, to his church community, and to the simple joys that made life rich and full. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew him.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their support and kindness during this time of sorrow and grief.
“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah
