Neely

David Lee Neely was born on October 7, 1941 in Covina, California and passed away on December 7th, 2023 in Sparks, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. David was the son of Earl Elmer and Dessie Mae (Barrett) Neely and grew up in Sasakwa, Oklahoma. He married Barbara Ann Fitch on December 24, 1965 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Barbara preceded David in death on August 27, 2010, after forty-four years of marriage. David worked for many years in the oilfield. While in the oilfield, he worked as pipeliner and truck driver. Following his retirement from the oil field, he spent many years taking care of Barbara as she battled illness. He later went to work for his son, Billy, driving trucks for Neely Trucking.

David was known and loved for his generous and loving spirit. He loved to make people laugh with his great sense of humor. His greatest pride was his grandchildren and they affectionately called him “Pop.” He loved to spoil them and would often surprise them with gifts. David was never one to just sit around. He was always working or tinkering on his latest project. He spent many hours on his tractor, either cutting and bailing hay or brush hogging his property. He was skilled at welding and working on trucks. He loved old country music and enjoyed watching sports on television.

David was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara Neely; his parents; two daughters and sons-in-law, Francine and Gary Lewis and Wanda and Richard Brooks; his great-grandson, Gage Prough; two brothers, Carl Neely and Calvin Neely and one sister, Dovona Pennington.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Billy Neely and his wife, Colette and their children, Calen, Ciera, Holden and Hazel; his daughter, Edna Lewis; two sons, David Neely and his wife, Robyn, and Johnny Lewis; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service to honor David’s life to be announced at a later date.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague. An online guestbook is available at www.parksbrothers. net.
