David John Anway

David John Anway, longtime Bowlegs resident, was born July 25, 1947 in Oakland, California and passed December 15, 2022 at SSM St. Anthony’s Hospital in Shawnee at the age of 75.

David served in the US Army then the Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. He married Mary Hurley Werner on July 20, 1974 and spent his life with her until her death in 2008.

David is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, and several siblings.

He leaves to cherish his memory a brother, Donald Anway of Pioneer, CA, three sisters, Mary Kearns and Patti Bowen of Pioneer, CA and Jean Hamilton of Fair Oaks, CA; a daughter, Laura Swecker and husband Neil of Wewoka, OK, a son, Robert Werner and wife Cathy of Bowlegs, OK, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Instead of flowers, the family requests a donation in David’s name to his favorite charity, Wounded Warriors.

Arrangements are under the direction of OK Cremation & Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
