Crawford Maxwell West, Seminole resident, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 90. Crawford was born on March 16, 1930, in Oklahoma City, OK, to James Maxwell and Bessie Faye (Boswell) West. He served in the United States Army as Master Sergeant. Crawford later owned Pat’s Café, American Line Service and Apple Ally.

Crawford married Lola Yvonne West on December 5, 1955 in Ada, Oklahoma. Yvonne passed away on February 1, 2010. Crawford enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, camping and anything outdoors. He, Land, James and their friend Larry spent numerous hours with family and friends at Wewoka, Thunderbird or Eufaula Lakes. Every weekend was spent water skiing and then in the later years fishing and camping at different lakes in Oklahoma.

Crawford was inducted into the Seminole Football Hall of fame for his 1949 Senior Year. He played football at Seminole High School and was on the team that went to State under Gene Corotto and Homer Simmons. He then went to OU to play football for a year. He was a Golden Gloves Boxer until he entered the service. In 1950 he was a Golden Glove Boxing Champion in his weight division. He became a high school Booster Club President in 1974-1975 at Seminole High School helping out the athletic department when his boys were in high school.

Crawford is survived by his sons, Land West and James West, both of Seminole, OK; and like a son to him, Larry LeBarre of Oklahoma City; sisters, Dee Massay, of Norman, OK and Ann Wright & her husband Herman of Midland, TX and many other family and friends.

Crawford was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Yvonne West; brother, Joe West and brother-in-law, John Massay.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK with Bro. Carl Whitfield officiating. Cremation will follow. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
