Clarence Ray Romine, age 78, longtime

Seminole, O k l a - homa resident, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at his home. He was born May 5, 1941 in Alicia, Arkansas to parents Amos and Bertha (Barker) Romine.

He attended school in Walnut ridge, Arkansas and farmed with his parents until he was drafted into the army. He served two years active duty and was discharged as a Private First Class.

After some time, Clarence became a carpenter and began putting up buildings for Square Post Buildings of Arkansas. In 1980, work became slow, so he decided to move to Seminole, Oklahoma and start his own company, Square Post Buildings of Oklahoma.

Clarence married Katherine Kaser on October 16, 1989 in Wichita Falls, Texas. They would have been married 30 years this October.

Clarence loved his work, fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. He and Katherine owned and operated Hilltop Rentals, Hilltop Auction Services and Hilltop Furniture and Antique Store until 2014 when the shop burned. He was a man well known for his hard work and dedication. He did not believe in idle hands and was a man of his word. He worked until May of this year when cancer became his fight at the age of 78.

Clarence is survived by his wife Katherine Romine of the home, sons; Wendell Romine and his wife Nancy of Salem, Arkansas, Hoby Romine and his wife Jennie of Portia, Arkansas and Chris Brewer and his fiance’ Melinda Matthews of Seminole, Oklahoma, daughter; Janice Baker and her husband Sandy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and brother; Ed Romine and his wife Frankie of Hoxie, Arkansas, eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Bill Romine and James Romine, sisters; Marie George and Jane Hulett.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Bill Chesser and Jason Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole.

Casket bearers will be grandsons; Anthony Romine, Garret Romine, Chris Romine, Elijah Brewer, Gabe Rose and Ethin Romine.

Honorary bearers will be Lloyd Sanders, Dale Sanders, Joe Bridges, Randy Strickland, Jason Murphy, Sandy Baker and Richard Johnson.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
