Cheryl Burns

Seminole resident Cheryl Dawn Burns, 64, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, in Seminole.

Cheryl, the daughter of Tommy Overby and Lavonia June (Lemmings) Houck, was born October 3, 1961, in Seminole. She attended Seminole High School and graduated with the class of 1979. On April 6, 1980, Cheryl married Kelly Burns, in Seminole. She was a homemaker and proudly raised her two sons. Cheryl was of the United Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Ovonuel Overby and by a sister, Julia Wattermon.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Kelly, of the home; sons and daughters- in-law, Nicholas Keith and Jodi Burns, of Seminole, and Brandon Travis and Taylor Burns, of Seminole; four grandchildren, Caleb Burns, Madison Burns, Legend Burns, and Rain Burns; sisters and brother-in-law, Jana and Jamie Gaugh, of Ohio, and Alicia Houck, of Konawa; along with many other family members and friends.

A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the family cemetery on Cheryl and Kelly’s land east of Bowlegs. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
