Charles Elliot “Bone” Burgess, age 68 and a life-long resident of the Wolf, Oklahoma area, passed away at his cousin’s home in Sasakwa, Oklahoma on January 21, 2022 under the care of Kindful Hospice of Ada, Oklahoma.

Bone will be taken at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022 to the family home located at 127 S. Olive St. in Sasakwa for viewing. A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the Seminole Indian Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma. Rev. Kellos Walker will officiate.

Bone was born December 14, 1953 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Alexander Burgess and Joanna (Harjo) Burgess. He married Joyce Harjo, and he was a construction worker.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Beck of Sasakwa, and James Beck of Lawton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Arieona Harjo of Wolf; one brother, Claude Burgess of Seminole, Oklahoma; three sisters, Marcella Bryant of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joammie Wood of Seminole, and Gwen Warrenburg of South Dakota; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Harjo; three brothers, George “DoDo” Burgess, Samuel Harrison, and “Big Boy”; and two sisters, Nita Kay Jacobs and Baby Girl Burgess.
