Charles “Milton” Courtney, age 96, and a lifelong resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away February 18, 2022 at Ada Care Center in Ada, Oklahoma.

Funeral services with military honors are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Rev. Pam Shirk will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Milton was born October 9, 1925 in Konawa to Homer Wade Courtney and Estelle Sevilla (Anderson) Courtney. He graduated from Konawa High School in 1943. After graduation, he proudly volunteered to serve in the Navy from October 1943 until May, 1946. Milton served as 2nd Class Petty Officer on the Battleship Iowa. He married Anna Louise Forbes June 12, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Konawa.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Louise Courtney of the home; one son, David Courtney of Chickasha, Oklahoma; one sister, June Skaggs of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Estelle Courtney; two daughters, Mary Fletcher and Anita Hawthorne; one sister, Marie Bell and one brother, Ed Courtney.

Viewing will be 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21st at the funeral home in Konawa.
