Carl Edward “Big Edd” Myatt, 80, lifelong Konawa, Oklahoma resident, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Ed was born May 10, 1939 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Carl Myatt and Zelma Ann (Wallis) Myatt.

Big Edd was well known in Konawa.  He always told people in town that he was the Sheriff and had a badge to prove it. He loved helping everyone he could in Konawa. He would put up and take down the American Flag, mowed yards, checked on all the businesses in town daily to see if they needed anything and then he would help them with whatever they needed.

He loved parades, and was well known for his love of bicycles, which he rode everywhere. Ed was loved by all.

He left Konawa to be near his sister in Chickasha, Oklahoma in 2014. He loved reading the cards that the people of Konawa would send him and so wanted to come back home and visit them.

Ed also worked at Khoury’s lumber yard throughout the years doing odd jobs. He also worked at his father’s café, the Steakhouse Café and the Sweet Shop for many years.

Big Edd is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Delbert Akins of Chickasha, Oklahoma, his nieces and nephews; Jeanie Lee, Ron Akins, Janice King, Jeanetta Poston and Benny Myatt, Jr., eight great nieces and nephews and four great -great nieces and nephews, the many friends in Konawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother who raised him, Jennie Myatt, his sister Mildred Poston and his brother Benny Myatt.

The family will receive friends and family at a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma with Jim Talbert officiating. Burial will follow at the Konawa City Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be; Austin Akins, Tanner Akins, Corbin Lee, Colton Adams, Charles Grant, Jr. and Lynn Lee.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa, Oklahoma.
