Beverly Juanita Smith, precious daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed from this earth on April 23, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born June 10, 1929 in Oklahoma City to Asa Brightberry Brown and Ruby Brown. Beverly was born on Homa Street, where she was a free-range child who was allowed to frolic freely with her two best friends: her sisters Betty and Francis.

Beverly attended Culbertson Grade School, Webster Junior High, and Central High School. Upon graduation, Beverly met O. E. Smith at the Baptist Church. Beverly and O. E. were married on June 22, 1947. The couple moved to a garage apartment in Holdenville, where their son Mark was born. They moved the next year to Wewoka where O. E. started his own business as a Public Accountant. They had three more children in Wewoka: Larry, Karen and Olin. Beverly was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Secretary/Treasurer for Band Boosters, a Daughter of the American Revolution, a member of Eastern Star, and a member of Women’s Missionary Union. Also, she worked for the Wewoka Centennial Committee. She loved children. She said working with them was her crowning achievement. She taught Hooked on Phonics to grade school children, enabling them to read. She was a third- and fourth-grade Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church. Every child she taught in Sunday School learned the books of the Bible by singing a particular song.

Beverly worked most of her life in the offices of O. E. Smith. In later years she worked for the Butner and Butner law firm.

Beverly researched the history of the First Baptist Church, which the church still uses to this day. Beverly is survived by

Beverly is survived by son Mark and his wife Judy of Norman, OK; son Larry Smith of Churchill, Tn.; daughter Karen Smith of Tulsa, OK; and son Olin Smith and his wife Kathy of Norman, OK. Also, Beverly had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren on whom she showered much love and affection.
