Barbara Jo (Vance) Gateley

Barbara Jo (Vance) Gateley passed away on December 10, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 83. She was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on November 11, 1938, to Robert Murry Vance and Sylvia (Sumpter) Vance. She was raised in Seminole and moved to Del City, Oklahoma in 1968. She taught English at Choctaw High School for many years before retiring. Barbara enjoyed gar

Barbara enjoyed gardening and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.

Barbara is survived by her daughter; Vanessa Conn and her husband Tony of Skiatook, Oklahoma, her brother Robert Murry Vance, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Loudon, Tennessee, grandchildren; Samantha Garza and Leo Conn and great-grandchildren; Riley Louvinia, Joe and Leo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son James Mark Sommerville.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Mike Conn officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
