Anita Kay (Newsom) Stephens, longtime Seminole County resident, entered eternal life September 5, 2020.

On September 23, 1957, Anita was born Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Carne Newsom and Roberta Cain.

She graduated from Butner High School in 1975 and attended Oscar Rose College in Midwest City.

On September 16, 1977 Anita married Claud Stephens, Jr. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Anita worked at Tinker Air Force Base, Fidelity Bank, Lillian Russell, Debbie’s Day Care, Wrangler and was also a homemaker.

Anita leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband Claud of the home; her mother, Roberta Cain; son Claud Stephens III Wewoka; two daughters, Christal Akadiri of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Angela Longley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three brothers, Milton McCormick of Edmond, Oklahoma, Timothy McCormick of Cromwell, Oklahoma, Carnell Newsom of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four sisters, Tanya Cain of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Shelia Cain of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Carolyn Crenshaw of Seminole, Oklahoma, Alecsia Newsom of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild.

Sadly, Anita was preceded in death by her father, Carne Newsom, daughter Anisha Stephens, 1 granddaughter and two sisters, Princella Smith Ward and Marilyn Sue Clark and her grandmothers; Anna Modia (Wortham) Burkhelter and Parzola (Booker) Newsom.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m., Friday, September 11, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. George and Roy Stephens will officiate the service.

Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Seminole County, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
