Amos Welliver

Shawnee resident, Amos Manuel Welliver, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024 in McLoud.

Amos, the son of Frank and Mary (Barrett) Welliver, was born March 30, 1937, in Seminole. He graduated from Varnum High School, with the class of 1955. Following high school, Amos entered the US Army, proudly serving 20 years including tours in Vietnam, before retiring in 1977. On September 17, 1960, Amos married Mildred Yvonne Sikes, in Seminole, Mrs. Welliver passed away September 10, 2017, one week prior to their 57th wedding anniversary. After retiring from the Army, Amos continued his education, receiving his master’s degree in business. Amos then took a job a Tinker, where he worked until his second retirement. He was an avid history buff, which he not only studied outside his family, but inside as well, as a family historian and genealogist. He also enjoyed crosswords, but his favorite thing in life was spending time with this family, particularly his grandkids. Amos was a 32nd Degree Mason, he was also a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.

Amos’ family wishes to extend a special thanks to his sister-in-law, Doris Gale Morland, for the care she extended to Amos and Yvonne for so many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and several siblings.

Amos is survived by three sons and daughtersin- law, Adam and Rebecca Welliver, of Shawnee, Tracy and Kitty Welliver, of Durant, and Jason and Paula Welliver, of Shawnee; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Services with full military honors will be Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
