Alice Walters

Alice Jean Walters passed away in Oklahoma City on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the age of 76 years.

Alice is the daughter of Titusie & Lona (Harjo) Carpitcher, born on March 20, 1947, in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, where she was brought up and attended schools. She was married to John Walters, and they made their home in Seminole for several years. When John passed away, Alice returned to live with her mother and brother in Sasakwa. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church of Sasakwa, where she served as Sister Leader, and loved singing Native songs. She enjoyed shopping at Wal Mart and eating catfish, her favorite food. She was devoted to caring for her brother, Culley, until her health failed in 2020.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Titusie & Lona Carpitcher; her husband, John Walters; five sisters: Eliza Coon, Effie Lena Harjo, Zelda Morgan, Christine Carpitcher, and Irene Carpitcher; five brothers: Andrew Carpitcher, Bunny Carpitcher, Sam Carpitcher, Harry Carpitcher, and Alford Carpitcher; one nephew, Rev. Jimsey Harjo.

She is survived by her brother, Culley Carpitcher, of the home, and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024, 2:00pm at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa, and Alice will be laid to rest at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor William ‘Skip’ Foster will officiate, assisted by Rev. Newman Crowels Jr. Pallbearers are Lewis Carpitcher Jr, Leland Coon, Leon Morgan, Maurice Morgan, Craig Poafpybitty, and Gunner Thlocco. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Jefferson, Jon Berryhill, Roy Carpitcher, Jimmy Davis, Melvin Morgan, David Morgan, Walter Larney, and Siah Beaver. Flower Girls are Michele Harjo, Malinda Emarthla, Corrie Jefferson, Angela Larney, Hepsey Morgan, and Tessa Coon. http://www.fisherfh.net
