Alexander “Alex” Barnett, 68 year old Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and former Konawa, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Cura Health Hospital in Oklahoma City.   He was born March 4, 1951 in Oklahoma City to parents Irene Maggie and Sam Barnett, Jr.

Alex was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.   He served 14 years serving our Country in the United States Marine Corp. where he had earned the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Pistol Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal 3 rd   Award, National Defense Service Medal and the Driver of the Qtr Award.   He had earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.  

Survivors include one son Hansel Barnett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three daughters, Malisa (Barnett) Simmons and her husband Frank Simmons IV of Chesapeake, West Virginia, Angelica Alice (Barnett) Richards and her husband William Richards III of Summerville, South Carolina, Tiffany (Barnett) Pelster and her husband Greg Pelster of St. Louis, Missouri; five brothers, Ray Barnett and his wife Cecilia Barnett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Larry Barnett and his wife Nancy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Eddie Barnett of Konawa, Oklahoma, Rickey Columbus of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, William Melton of Norman, Oklahoma; three sisters, Teresa Holman of Norman, Oklahoma, Johnnie Allen of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Veana Kay Roanhorse of Wendell Rock, Arizona; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clifford Barnett and Bobby Barnett, by two sisters, Jacklyn Barnett and Sharron Barnett.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2019 at High Springs Indian Baptist Church in Konawa, Oklahoma with Rev. Dennis Bible officiating the service.   Interment will follow at the Seminole Nation Veteran’s Cemetery located on Hwy. 59 near the Mekusukey Mission with full Military Honors provided by the Seminole Nation Honor Guard and the United States Marine Corp. Honor Guard.

Casket Bearers will be: Barry Barnett, Cameron Barnett, Gifford Barnett, Memphis Barnett, Kevin Barnett and Eddie Barnett.

Honorary Bearers will be: Caleb Barnett, Jeremy McPherson, Jason Beau-champ and Logan Allen.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
