Hulen R.L. “Ham” Gaines, 93 of Collins-ville, Okla., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019 in Tulsa.

He was born Jan. 5, 1926 in Sasakwa, Okla., to Homer Lee Gaines and the former Ollie Luvada Trout.

He had lived in Collinsville for the last 10 years, having moved from Wewoka, where he had lived for 83 years.

He was a deacon for 50 years at the Hilltop Free Will Baptist Church in Wewoka and then for 10 years at the Wolf Free Will Baptist Church.

He was a mechanic for many years before becoming a teacher at the Gordon Cooper Vo-tech in Shawnee.

He served in the United States Army during WWII.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov, 14, at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

The family will be present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15, 2019 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Wewoka, with Rev. Allen Wood officiating.

Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

He is survived by his wife Elena “Dolly” Gaines of the home; two children Michael Hulen Gaines and his wife Lana of Colorado City, Texasl and Susan Fain and her husband George of Collinsville; five grandchildren, Brittne Carson and her husband Jason, Andrea Hines and her husband Randy, Julie Dulin and her husband Jason, Russell Fain and his wife Iris, and Abi Fain; 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Truman Gaines and his wife Norma of Henryetta and Bobby Gaines and his wife Connie of Henryetta.

He is preceded in death by one great-grandson, Nathan Dulin; two brothers and one sister.
