Mrs. Florence R. Miller, Seminole County Social Service Director and Storm Center, has ended her connection with the relief set-up in this county, it was revealed today. Mrs. Miller is on vacation this week and will begin duties next week as Social Service Director in McAlester. The county administration this week is under the direction of Miss Gladys Neal, who has been assistant to Mrs. Miller. Mrs. Helen Von Macklin, OERA Field staff member, will take over the direction Monday and will, in turn, be succeeded April 1 by Ted F. Collier.

To continue the study of the book, “The Open Gate To Prayer,” circles of the Women’s Missionary Society of the First Methodist Church met in separate sessions. The Lord’s prayer is the topic of the book. Mrs. W.H. Hough presided and Mrs. E.F. Nelson had charge of the devotional. The groups observed the World Day of Prayer.

T.N.T. Club held the regular meeting at the home of Daisy King. Final plans were made for the St. Patrick dance. Mrs. King was elected sponsor of the group. A special guest was Billie Dean Wade of Spiro.

Mrs. Claude Chambers is spending the day in Tulsa. Her daughter, Marjorie, student at Monte Casino Academy, will return with her and spend the weekend here. — o Oo—

“In announcing as a candidate for the office of mayor of the city of Seminole, I do so with a thorough knowledge of the responsibility assumed with the duty of that office. I feel that I have had sufficient experience in varied lines of business to qualify me for this office,” said Chester Gates.

Upon announcing his candidacy for chief of police, George Snider said, “I feel that I need no introduction to the voters of this city. I have resided here for 26 years, own my home and reared my family here.”

Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Livingston have returned from a three weeks journey in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.
