Lu Fuller excited over seeing her son, Johnny and his wife, Janice, on the NBC David Frost show Tuesday morning…Six-year-old Kenny Childers becoming a television star when he was photographed feeding the elephants at the zoo, a part of a news telecast over an Oklahoma City channel… Shange and Kenneth Loyd being welcomed back to Seminole by friends after a long stay in Texas…he will be employed by a local Oil patch firm…Vernon Mullen showing his prowess as a “dog catcher,” and being considered by City Manager Don Brown to do some “moonlighting” for the police to help enforce the dog ordinance…Wesley and Dixie Smith looking forward to a visit to Ft. Worth this weekend where they will babysit with grandson Jason Carter while his parents, Shirley and Roy Carter, are in Denver… They’ll be house hunting there since Roy is being transferred to Colorado by the oil firm for which he works…
Signs of progress are already being seen due to the efforts of Edward Powell, Seminole’s full-time building inspector. Five dilapidated buildings in the city have already been demolished and some 25 junk cars have been removed from city streets. Powell started his job here in Seminole on March 20.
The Seminole wading pools for the small fry are now open. The pools will be open five days a week from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The small pool located by the large at Municipal will be open 7-days a week.
Tornadoes and severe thunderstorms continued to ravage sections of the Midwest late Tuesday, causing property damage but no reported injuries.
Seminole Camp Fire Girls are busy with last minute plans for Camp SeCola on Lake Murray, their director, Mrs. LeRoy Collins advised. They will make their week’s home at Youth Camp No. 1. SeCola is the abbreviation for Seminole Council Lassies.
Vacation Church school at First United Methodist church will begin Sunday, June 13, Mrs. Buster Loving, director, announced. Mrs. Bruce Bean will serve as secretary.
Seminole blitzed the Shawnee Blues 65-36, Chandler mauled Maud 65-30, and Harrah shaved Prague 47-45 in Shawnee YMCA Basketball League play in the Shawnee gym, Tuesday night.
