The annual Bowlegs high school band’s Spring Concert will be held at 7:30 Thursday night in the Bowlegs high school auditorium. The general public is invited and admission is free. The high school band, stage band, and Bowlegs elementary band will perform in the concert. All three bands will be under the direction of Tom Flora.

County School Supt. Curtis Christian announced Tuesday afternoon that no action can be taken on the proposed annexation of the Strother School District until after July 1. Christian said he talked with both the attorney general and the state department of education and they advised him that no election on the proposal can be held until after that date. However, Christian was told that the petitions filed with him will still be good after the freeze is lifted.

A crowd estimated at 60 interested or curious persons attended city council meeting Tuesday night to hear and discuss an animal control ordinance which had been proposed by the national humane society. In discussion the first specific question asked Mayor Waldo Lilly by a lady in the audience was “How do you keep a tom cat home on a Saturday night?” The mayor admitted he didn’t know a complete answer but suggested it would depend on the age of the tom cat.

Army Private First Class Lowell T. Nicholson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Nicholson Sr., route two, Seminole, recently received the combat infantryman badge in Vietnam. The badge is a unique and cherished award that is highly coveted by its recipients. The award was originated during World War II to recognize the role of the infantryman. The CIB can be awarded only to a member of an infantry unit or brigade, regimental or smaller size unit who satisfactorily performed in active ground combat against a hostile force for a period of time.
