Woman Leads Seminole PD to Alleged Stolen Truck
A Shawnee man has been charged with one felony count of Possession of Stolen Vehicle, according to documents filed in the District Court of Seminole County on April 6.
The felony information states that Scott Ryan Yarbrough, 49, “on or about the 29th day of March 2023, by possessing a certain motor vehicle, to wit: brown Chevrolet pickup which vehicle had been stolen from (name withheld) by parties unknown on or about March 21, 2023, the said defendant not being entitle to the possession of said vehicle and well knowing and having reason to believe that said vehicle had been stolen.”
The probable cause affidavit filed in this case states that City of Seminole Police Officer Zachary Jared was dispatched to the Braum’s parking lot for a report of a located stolen vehicle at approximately 9:00 p.m. on March 29.
When Officer Jared arrived, he observed a female standing in front of a brown Chevrolet pickup. Upon contact the female advised her mother’s truck had been stolen from Norman, and she believed that the truck she was blocking was the one stolen from her mother.
Officer Jared made contact with Scot Yarbrough, who was driving the Chevy truck bearing a Chickasaw tag. After asking for his license, Officer Jared explained to Yarbrough that the woman in front of him believed the truck was stolen. Yarbrough stated that he had just bought the vehicle in Norman for $2,500, and he had the registration with him, the affidavit states. When Jared examined the registration, it showed that Yarbrough had the vehicle registered in his name on March 9 at the McCloud Tag Agency, according to the affidavit. Other paperwork provided by Yarbrough showed the truck should have been displaying an Oklahoma tag, not the Chickasaw tag that was on the vehicle, the affidavit adds.
Yarbrough was placed under arrest, and a salt and pepper-colored small dog was taken by Animal Control prior to the vehicle and trailer being picked up by a wrecker service.
Yarbrough was transported to the Seminole County Jail and booked in without incident, the affidavit concludes.
Bond was set at $15,000, according to the appearance bond document filed in this case.
