Wewoka Event Will Recognize Community Treasure

Posted in:

A fun event featuring live music, raffles, delicious food and more on July 24 will help raise money for someone that is more accustomed to helping others.

Most people in Wewoka are well aware that Floyd Snider Jr. has always been a responsible citizen, taking pride in his hometown and gladly reaching out to support others that are in need and donating his time and energy to give back to his community. The community will have the opportunity to show their appreciation on July 24 when MJ’S Grill, 523 S. Mekusukey Ave. in Wewoka, hosts an outdoor fund-raising event.

Floyd and his late father, Floyd Snider Sr. have operated the Snider Printing company for many years. Floyd is also a talented musician and has played in a number of popular bands through the years, including Iron Horse and his current band, Everfade. Floyd Jr. was recently diagnosed with throat cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Floyd has often volunteered his music to attract a crowd for various fund-raising events. Although he is uncomfortable being on the receiving end, some past and present band mates convinced him he should let them show their support by helping defray his medical and travel expenses so he and his family can focus on his health.

Bands scheduled to perform include two that Floyd currently performs with, Everfade and The Switch. Also performing will be To Far, David Paul Nowlin, and Off the Wall. The music is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. and continue until it’s over. This is a family-friendly event, and everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and plan to stay for the day. Although this will be a free event, donations to the Snider family are strongly encouraged and greatly appreciated.

Bring the family, enjoy the various events that are scheduled, and most importantly, take advantage of this rare opportunity to show appreciation for a genuine community treasure.
