Water Main Ruptures In Downtown District

Posted in:

Several businesses on Main Street in Seminole were left without water Wednesday morning after a water main in the area ruptured.

The break occurred in the 200 block of Main just before 9 a.m., sending waves of water gushing down the street. Police blocked the road off as a precautionary measure.

The city sent notifications out via phone, text and email about the break, stating that residents and businesses in the area would experience little to no water pressure. The estimated repair time was 6-8 hours, the alert stated.

To receive alerts from the city regarding road closures and water main breaks, text “join water” to 30890. To receive emergency alerts, text “join seminole” to the same number.

The city also sends out notifications when the tornado sirens are being tested, so residents will know it’s a test and not a storm warning. The sirens are tested each Saturday at 12 noon, weather permitting.
