Two Seminole Nation Casinos Reopened After Security Breach
Two of the three casinos operated by the Seminole Nation that have been closed for several weeks due to a security breach have been reopened.
The nation reported on May 27 that the Trading Post Casino in Wewoka and the Rivermist Casino in Konawa are now open, but its location at I-40 and Highway 377 remained closed as of Tuesday.
The breach happened on May 9 and Seminole Nation Chief Gregory P. Chilcoat issued a statement the following Tuesday.
“Due to an unforeseen security breach on the Seminole Nation Gaming Enterprise computer systems, the Nation’s casinos are unable to operate fully at this time. The privacy of our guests and employees is our highest priority and we want to make sure this issue is resolved quickly. The appropriate authorities have been notified and we are working with experts to determine any risks to data security,” Chilocat said.
Details on the exact nature of the breach have not been released.
